When I look at a work of art, I know instantly if I like it. It has to draw me in, beg me to look closer, so I can see every detail, every color, everything and anything the artist has put into the work. It's the whole that captures my attention but it is the detail that becomes part of me.
Barb Burlingame's work draws me in; every time. Her unique uses of color, texture, and design create another dimension of what is real. A flower, for example, becomes a treasure map. A forest has an ephemeral quality much like a dandelion gone to seed. Her works beg to be looked at, scrutinized, and enjoyed.
